Small Music/ Entertainment Venue

With a capacity of approx. 500, a venue this size still offers a sense of intimacy with the performers, as well as allowing for excellent sound and the ability to attract regionally and nationally known musicians, improv troupes, and comedians as well as local acts. Food and alcohol would be available, as well as the option to rent the space out for functions. My inspirational venue is Port City Music Hall in Portland, ME.

  1. At our meet up on 7/6, we had break out groups and we discussed this idea further, including ideal size (anywhere between 6k-10k sq. ft.) and potential spots in Nashua where this would be a perfect fit. Some ideas were 100 Main St, Court Street, Indian Head Plaza, and one of the mill buildings. Do you have any ideas on where this could go in Nashua?

  2. Would this be indoor/outdoor? Or would it just be indoors?

  3. This is something Nashua really needs. Call me competitive, but I hate the fact that downtown Nashua does not have a quality, but intimate, place for music that has lasted. Much less the lack of HVAC improvements to the O’Keefe, which in its day was played by the likes of Steve Allen and Muddy Watters. Hope to read more about this idea by the person(s) who inspired it. While it has been a few years…I have experienced the facities around the Cumberland County Civic Center, too!

  4. I agree Tim, Nashua needs a place like this and that is why I am so excited about people responding positively to it.

@Kerri, this particular idea is based on an indoor venue, but we also discussed the possibility of outdoor festivals during meetings as well.

  5. A venue the size of the Palace Theatre in Manchester is really missing in downtown Nashua.

  6. Studio 99 is wonderful. Keefe Auditorium is used a lot and the Nashua Symphony has a place. Could use some sprucing up though. We should perhaps improve what we have not build new.

  7. Instead of building a new venue from scratch, why not support Studio 99? S99 can fit all of the needs mentioned, they do music, spoken word, and theater, among others. And they’re growing quickly enough that I’d imagine they’re about to outgrow their current space. S99 even tried out a new space on W Pearl over the summer.

    1. I love Studio 99, and have attended several shows there. They just need to get a much bigger venue and up their marketing budget, because not very many people even know they exist.

  8. If you like this idea, go ahead and like the NEW submission for a temporary venue in the Franklin Mill Building!!
